Fried Goat: Bon Appetit
The debut full-length release from Fried Goat was recorded throughout 2010 in Augusta, GA by producer Ruskin Yeargain, on Outhouse Vinyl. The outing allows lead singer Westy Bowen the chance to let go in a stylistic stew that runs from solo acapella through straight ahead rock with plenty of "folk" in the middle.
The album cooks, and is nation-tasty, albeit not much about goats or food songs- interesting songwriting, strong vocals and harmony. (I always wonder how bands come up with names for themselves and albums, if there is supposed to be a suggestion that one is related to the words that describe them? And in this case, the label being Outhouse Vinyl, I'm wondering about the LP...)
Deke Wiggins plays "lead goatar" and mandolin, Jordan Atanassov on bass and acoustic "goatar", and Brian Brittingham on drums. Catch them in Georgia and South Carolina, they just might be the next big thing.
