When I started playing guitar in sixth grade, the only songs I could play were “Closing Time” by Semisonic and “Last Kiss” by Pearl Jam. I continued to play on the five or so chords that are used in those songs for two years until I started lessons again around freshman year of high school. Up through the first few months of that, my goal was always to be in a punk/rock band or something of the sort. I hadn’t explored many different music genres until my sister shared her eclectic tastes ranging from Jazz to Incubus, Against Me!, Kings of Leon, and many other bands that I would be clueless about if it weren’t for her. While watching a request/dedication TV show on Fuse, I saw a band someone had told me about, Bright Eyes. The song was “At the Bottom of Everything”, a tragic tale to a happy tune. Before the music video was over I was on Bright Eyes’ myspace page, listening to more of their music. I believe that was a major turning point in my musical taste, which quickly changed my goal to folk music. |

in Untagged I am so excited, nervous, anxious, anticipating the biggest show of my career so far. I am playing this weekend in front of more than 1000 people in Deadwood,SD. Opening for Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band, John Michael Montgomery and Brock Finn. I hope that you all if in the area come out to hear this show.
