Award winning singer/songwriter Jane Eamon releases CD #4 – Real. Produced by the legendary David Essig, Real is a collection of 10 original songs and a cover of the beautiful song I Can't Wait by Kieren Kane sung as a duet with Rick Scott of Pied Pumpkin fame. The songs were written over the last year and chronicle her struggle with mortality, Type II diabetes, learning to accept aging, recent travels to Nashville and the fear of losing loved ones. Joining Eamon is David Essig, Shelley Brown (the Flying Accusations) on stand-up, Donn Tarris (Valdy, Bill Henderson) on vintage Weissenborn, Steve 'Hawkeye' Lauriault on harp and of course her husband and long time musical partner, Gord Brush on guitars. Real is a stunning new collection of acoustic music recorded live in all its glory in order to capture the beauty and joy of playing together. Eamon earned the enthusiastic support of Roz and (the late) Howard Larman, hosts of Los Angeles’ iconic FolkScene program, and she’s been a featured artist on NPR’s Open Mic. “Blue Madonna,” the title track from Eamon’s 2002 debut CD, placed third in the KADAC Arts Awards and earned an Honourable Mention from the Billboard Song Contest. “Ruckus in the Henhouse,” from A Different Place, a political number inspired by the Vote for Change concert series, earned an Honour Award from both the Great American Song Contest and The Unisong Song Contest and was a finalist in the Mountain Stage Newsong Contest. “Let Time Take Care of the Rest,” from Deep Water, also received an Honourable Mention from the Great American Song Contest. Eamon earned the 2005 Socan Songwriter of the Year award and the Best Female Artist award at the Okanagan Valley Music Awards, and she has been named Best Folk Artist three years running. In addition, her music has been featured on several compilation albums, including “Protest Songs for a Better World” and “Dig Your Roots,” and she was the lead writer of the official Kelowna centennial song. What’s more, her passion for sharing her gift with others has earned her the title “Pastor of songwriting” in her hometown of Kelowna BC (alluding to her dedication to her craft and not to any religious involvement on Eamon’s part). |

in Untagged Today I went to Chapter's to redeem a gift card I got for my birthday and a book lept out at me - A Year of Reading C.S, Lewis. I bought it - and read today's excerpt. It is Half Hearted Desires and it got me thinking. Would we as human beings take an incredible existence over our comfort zone current lives? I know I know, I hear the groans, of course we would. If I won the lottery, if I was thinner, idf I was famous, if he only loved me, if I had a better job, house, face...fill in the blanks. But here's the thing, would you? Lewis states that mankind would list one of the top ten qualities a human could have as unselfishness. His point - years ago it would have been love. Hmm..that got me thinking. What does unselfishness mean to me, to you? Does it mean giving up what you have in the se...
