Edna Garte
Traditional Folk

My mother was a piano teacher who shared her love of music with me; my father taught me to play guitar as his father had taught him, and introduced me to the mandolin. Growing up in New York City, I used to lead singing with other teenagers, belting out a variety of songs from diverse folk traditions. I also joined several folk and classical choruses, developing a desire to harmonize almost everything.

voice, guitar, mandolin
