About
Jim Clare
Bluegrass, Traditional Folk
This is what happens to old folkies....start out by jotting down the words and chords to some song on a soggy napkin at the 1963 Newport Folk Festival. Then, a scant forty years or so pass, and you're jotting down the same sort of gibberish on a website. I live in the beautiful Finger Lakes area of New York State these days, but along the way I've visited and lived in many other places in our spectacular land from the New England coast to the Florida panhandle. I've lived in Texas and Hawaii, and Colorado. For the past several years I lived in eastern North Carolina. It's a beguiling place, and I feel very fortunate to have made great friends there. Each place has its own distinct charm and personality. These days, back in the Finger Lakes indulging my passion for songwriting, I find the cumulative experiences of my life so far provide me with plenty of material to hang a song on.....so when I hit a dry spell, I have no real excuse other than inertia.
