The Plum Creek String Band plays post-modern Appalachian-Jamaican groove music: West Virginia meets West Jamaica and goes out dancing. They combine infectious acoustic rhythms with tight vocal harmonies. The range of the Plum Creek sound extends from firey fiddle tunes to the roots of reggae to ballads you'll not soon forget. The primary roots of this sound are American old-time-- particularly its Apppalachian strains-- and Mento, the predecessor of Jamaican reggae and ska. The expression of this fusion is further informed by blues, jazz, classical and Celtic music, creating a compelling patchwork from diverse scraps.
